Would I be willing to let go of my pride?The Holy Spirit’s conviction came heavy upon me. My heart was being shredded by the Word of God. In the morning service, there was a song called “Mercy Came In” and the conviction came heavier. Tears begin to flow. Would I be willing to go forward to share with my Pastor what happened? My Pastor’s sermon was entitled “Shall We Live Again?” and the verse he preached from was Job 14:14. The sermon was about how death is certain and we have a destitation either heaven or hell. The conviction was even heavier. When the sermon ended, the Pastor always states, “If you have a need, you come.” I needed to come forward…I desired to come forward…I was compelled to come forward to let everyone know that I was saved and needed baptism. I prayed to the Holy Spirit for strength and I went forward, hugged my Pastor, and told him, “I don’t know how to say this but the Lord saved me this morning.” The tears flowed and I shared with the congregation what the Lord did for me and pleaded for them to check themselves if they are truly saved. I shared with them that I felt like a hyprocrite because I had religion (form of godliness) but no relationship with God. The Pastor asked when I wanted to be baptized, I emphatically said “Tonight.” Even if the waters were freezing cold, I wanted to obey and with God’s help, I was baptized. Praise the Lord for His great mercy toward me. I always felt there was something wrong and I could never put my finger on it. I kept struggling with assurance of salvation.Now I see…I was religious…now I have a relationship where I can truly call God my Father in confidence and my name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
