Historians are in general agreement it was not till the middle of the fourth century that any part of the Church celebrated the birth of our Lord. This is an amazingly late date. Christmas was not observed in Rome, the capital of the Roman Empire, until about 300 years after Christ’s death. Its origins cannot be traced back to either the teachings or practices of the earliest Christians.
The fact is that the so called ‘holy’ days were arranged to fit in with the heathen festivals. We venture to assert that if there be any day of the year of which we may be pretty sure our Savior was not born, it is the 25th of December. “How absurd to think we could do it in the spirit of the world, with a Jack Frost clown, a deceptive worldly Santa Claus, and a mixed program of sacred truth with fun, deception and fiction…The Catholics and high Church Episcopalians may have their Christmas one day in 365, but we have a Christ gift the entire year.”

Biblical Sexual Prohibitions By Dr. Scott Johnson | August 5, 2007–In this teaching we will be looking at a subject that is rarely (if ever) preached on in modern day churches: The sexual prohibitions outlined in Leviticus 18 &20. This is a very important study and especially needed by Christians in the day and time we live in. Truly much of the Body of Christ is being destroyed for lack of knowledge due to NOT knowing the material covered in this teaching. Unfortunately, there are many things that modern day Christians are doing (many times unknowingly) that are affecting them adversely in both a spiritual and physical way. We will look at the shocking WHOLE definitions of sodomy, fornication and intercourse and also the New Testament text some use to justify any sexual action regarding the marriage bed. From SodomyLaws.org we read: “The proscription of sodomy in the English tradition began in 1533 when King Henry VIII adopted contemporary church doctrine into a system of laws at the time of the English withdrawal from the Catholic Church. Sodomy became both a sin and a crime. Sodomy included any form of non-procreative acts including self-sexual gratification, oral and anal intercourse. The original thirteen American colonies derived their laws from the English common law and continued the legal tradition in which sodomy carried the penalty of death. The 1683 Pennsylvania law called sodomy an “unnatural sin” and the East New Jersey law listed it among the “Offenses against God. “Every state adopted some form of a sodomy law as it joined the United States, either in acceptance of an unwritten common law or in formal codification. A slow modernization of laws away from a religious doctrine into a secular system reduced penalties over time in a piece meal fashion. The American Heritage Dictionary defines “sodomy” as “1. anal copulation of one male with another. 2. Anal or oral copulation with a member of the opposite sex. 3. Copulation with an animal.” The same dictionary defines “sodomite” as one who engages in sodomy. To engage in sodomy is to use ones body in a manner that is contrary to its fundamental Biblical purpose (procreation). Sodomy, then, has no social purpose or function, it is simply an activity of personal sexual self-gratification.

Is the Biblical Marriage Bed a License For Sodomy?
In these days of widespread debauchery, concupiscence and uncleanness, married Christian couples are being bombarded with enticing messages about sex from various forms of Christian and secular media and even from the pulpit. Amidst these messages is the constant reassurance that the marriage bed is (without qualification) undefiled. Hebrews 13:4 is usually cited to “prove” the marriage bed is automatically and unconditionally undefiled in the sight of God:
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
Hebrews 13:4 does not indicate that the marriage bed cannot be defiled. Rather, it contrasts the purity of the marriage bed with the impurity of debauched individuals–whoremongers and adulterers.
Could it be that only the marriage bed (as God designed it) is undefiled? Has God placed any restrictions regarding sexual expression in marriage? Does God have a specific plan for the practical physical outworking of the marriage bed? Let us examine some scriptures that address the matter of God’s way for man and woman to come together physically.

Contraception & the Bible By Dr. Scott Johnson | October 21, 2007–In this teaching many will be shocked at the way many birth control methods actually work. From “The Pill”, to “The Patch” to IUD’s all are potentially “Abortifactive” according to the companies that make them.++ This is from a Catholic source, but it does explain how IUD’s can be abortifactive: Stanford and Mikolajczyk, “Mechanisms of action of intrauterine devices,” American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2002;187:1699-708 — reviews many past studies to reach some remarkable conclusions about IUDs. First, there is ample evidence that IUDs not only prevent conception, they also destroy the conceived prenatal prior to implantation. Birth Control Pills Shown to Alter Structure of Women’s Brains A new study explores the surprising cognitive effects of contraception
By Mara Hvistendahl–You aren’t yourself anymore. It’s a familiar complaint heard by women who have recently gone on birth control pills. Now studies are providing evidence for what many of those women, and the men who love them, have long known intuitively: the pill can alter the female brain, making a woman act like a different person.
The pill turned 50 this year, and it has gone through many iterations since the Food and Drug Administration gave the pharmaceutical company G.D. Searle a green light to market the first oral contraceptive on June 23, 1960. Drug companies continually roll out contraceptives containing lower doses of hormones and entailing fewer side effects. But women who have gone on hormones can point to the effects that have stubbornly endured: moodiness, depression, decreased libido. (This last one makes some birth control pills perversely effective. Not only do they protect you from pregnancy if you do have sex, they also zap your desire to have sex in the first place — and turn you into an unstable mess, which may in turn zap your partner’s interest in sex.) But believe it or not, we still know very little about the consequences of taking daily hormones on a woman’s brain.
That is changing, say Craig H. Kinsley and Elizabeth A. Meyer in Scientific American. They point to a recent study in the journal Brain Research comparing the brains of women on birth control pills with brains of other women and men. When the study’s authors examined high-resolution images of participants’ brains, they found the women on hormones showed more matter in some areas of the brain, including the prefrontal cortex, which is associated with cognitive activities like decision-making.
The Brain Research study prompted breathless news reports suggesting that the pill makes you smarter. But Kinsley and Meyer point out that the brain works like a “neural beehive,” and disturbing one part of the hive could impact the other. The fact that one brain region becomes larger than the next does not mean a woman on hormones is more intelligent or effective. It is also possible that her brain is going haywire. (Kinsley and Meyer actually use the word “catawampus.”)
That may be why in some situations estrogen has been shown to impair performance in rats. Other studies have suggested that the pill may change a woman’s preferences to the point of affecting her taste in men.
They compare the pill to steroids, which are known to cause increased aggression in men. Could the stints of hyper-masculine behavior known as “‘roid rage” have their equivalent in women? Hopefully future studies will shed light on what many couples know to be intuitively true.
